Our Trip to Washington D.C and Baltimore

Well we are finally home and adjusting to normalcy again. On Sunday July 13th Ryan went to Emmitsburg, Maryland for Grant writing, he was there for a week and on Friday the 18th I flew into Baltimore to join him for a week. We went to Washington D.C and Baltimore, Maryland. We started our trip out in D.C on Friday night we cruised around just soaking in the history of our country. We woke up Saturday morning and started a new day, First we traveled around and finally decided to go to the Smithsonian Museum and see everything, we went to the air and space museum and saw the sights for the day

We had both been to D.C before when we were in Highschool but never really appreciated it as much as we did today. On sunday we went to all of the memorials and then we went to Arlington Cemetary and for that was incredable, to see all of the men and women who fought for our country lying in the most sacred place in the world. It was a hot and very humid day, we spent 2 hours around Arlington getting tours and seeing the sights. It is amazing to see what not even a state has so much history to it. Here are a few pics of our day.

We also got to see a motorcade speeding through the streets of D.C I am not sure of who it is, but I know it is someone important...

So for the rest of the trip we went to the White House both at night and during the day. We also went to the Pentagon but were unable to take pictures. We also went to Mt Vernon where President George Washington resided. The trip was awesome and here are a few pictures.

I remember seeing all of this back in Highschool but it was so neat to see it today. Below to the left is me infront of the white house and to the right is the whit house at night!!

Here is a picture of Mt Vernon, it is a beautiful place and now I understand why Washington loved it here so much....

On Monday we got to take a tour of the capitol building, if you ever get the chance to do it..... DO. we contacted Senator Kyl's office and he was kind enough to allow us to come to his office and one of his staff took us on a tour. While we were sitting in his office he came out and we talked for a bit and he then took a picture of us. It was amazing.

Ryan, Marissa and Senator Kyl..

From Washington we then went to Baltimore, MD. It was so amazing to be able to spend time with just us two, we have been so busy with our work schedules that we hardly fine time for just US. So this trip was all about us. We took a duck tour and for those of you who don't what that is... It's a Boat vehicle that can drive on land and also act as a boat and go into the water. So we did that and took in the sights of the day. To the right is a picture of me and the Duck....

These were our wheels for the day. While on the boat you are given Quackers that you MUST use, Ryan was hesitant at first but quickly became a natural, I on the other hand was born to Quack.
