Thanksgiving 2008/Black Friday

Ryan and I celebrated our 1st Thanksgiving as a married couple and to be honest it felt no different except for the fact that the card I got for him was for my husband. Well on Wednesday we spend the night with his mom and dad, we went to dinner and then we spent the night up there. We figured since we were going to the Parade in the morning we would just spend the night so we didn't have to get up early. On Thursday we got up and went to the Fountain Hills Parade, this parade is small but cute. Linda, Bob, Grandma, Grandpa, Brady, Krys, Ryan and myself all went to this parade and we had such a great time. They had some Floats and other cute dancers. After the Parade we went back to the Travis house and spent time eating, sleeping oh and eating some more. It was a great thanksgiving.

Black Friday..... What can I say I am my mothers child and I woke up at 4:30AM to go shopping, Ryan stayed in bed but insisted on coffee upon my return. I went to Walmart early and what a ZOO that place was I got a few things but nothing major after waiting in line for 40 minutes I was free and made my way to Target. I was surprised by how many people were out this year, especially with the economy the way it is. Oh well, I spent about an hour in target and returned home with a Starbucks coffee for my husband, I turned on all the lights at 7:30AM wanting to show him all of the great deals I snagged.
Later that morning I took a nap only to be awaken by Ryan jumping on the bed giddy by some of the deals he had spotted in the ads, so I got up and we went shopping and to the Hockey game. Kohl's had some great deals we got a Mattress Pad for Cheap and a few things for the house. We ended our day by watching the Phoenix Coyotes BEAT the Colorado Avalanche, is there any better day than that..... NO

Halloween ... Hockey..... Random Things

So since Ryan and I do not have kids, we make Harley wear Halloween costumes. This was the first Halloween in 3 years Ryan was off. I got off of work went home and got the house ready for the little trick or treaters and put Harley into her outfit. There weren't many kids this year like there has been in the past. After we handed out candy to the kids we headed over to our neighbors house where they had a great party. We had a chance to meet some new people and drink. Here are some pictures from 10/31.. Harley was a 'Pumpkin' Ryan told me that I better not torture our kids like I do with her... Hmmmmm I remember a certain mother (Maria) who would make me look ridiculous in my costumes.
The next night we went to the hockey game with Ryan's grandparents. As many of you know Ryan is not allowed to attend Dback games because they always loose when he goes...... Well....... His grandparents are no longer able to attend the Coyotes Games. Here are a few pics from that night.

For some of you who weren't able to make it to our home while you were out for our wedding, you weren't able to see the renovations we did on our bedroom. So here is a picture of the new bedroom and my new comforter my sister and mom bought for me. New wood blinds, new hardwood floors, new furniture and the painting above the bed is actually a sticker that says "Always Kiss Me Goodnight"

This is a shadow box that I did after the wedding. I had my Bridal bouquet flowers 'Freeze Dried' and was going to have them create a shadow box for me, but they were asking $500 for it so I went and bought my own box and pieced together a few things. Hope you Enjoy

Fun-Filled Week

WOW...... What a week it started out on Saturday with his surprise party and finally came to an end on Friday. We had a great week together and I was so lucky to have shared it with him.

On Wednesday night Ryan and I went to the Melting Pot for dinner. It was so Delicious. We had a Three Course dinner with wine and it was romantic. to the left is a Ryan in front of the Restaurant.

The dinner started out with a cheese fondue and then we had a main course and the best part about the meal was.......... DESSERT. On the plate is Marshmallow's, Strawberries, Rice Crispy Treats, Pound Cake and Cheesecake in the center, we dipped it all in a Flaming turtle chocolate which was.... Chocolate, Caramel and Walnuts it was a perfect ending to an amazing dinner. Below are pictures of Ryan and I just being Us...
Moving on to Thursday his ACTUAL Birthday. I had to work and he had a handful of meetings to attend but I got off of work and we went to an event 'Taste of Cave Creek' a town in just north of the valley and they had a culinary event of beer, wine and food. Ryan got tickets from work so we thought we would go. It was fun but not what we thought. We left went to dinner and then came home.

On Friday I took the day off of work and we hung out all day together. We did a little shopping had some lunch and headed home to get ready for the Diamondbacks game. We went to the game with the family and had a great time. In Previous posts you know how we think Ryan is a curse to the team. Well it started out bad we were loosing in going into the 3rd and suddenly we turned it around and the Diamondbacks WON.... A Little too late because we were mathematically eliminated from the Post Season. Here are a few pictures.
On Saturday we headed up to Fountain Hills where Ryan spent the Day with the Boy's and Linda and I attended Krys Bridal shower, we had such a great time and we are so EXCITED for their wedding in less than a MONTH.. Welcome to the Family Krys..... After the shower Ryan and I drove home and got ready for our 1st Pre-Season Hockey Game.... That's right my friends HOCKEY is back. We went to the Coyotes and it was great we now have CLOSER seats this year and NHL.com and Sports center is predicting the Coyotes to finish 6th in their division and of course predicting MY RED WINGS will win the STANLEY CUP... (DUH) We can't wait for regular season to start and I am sure you will see more posts through out the year... Here are some Pics

For all you Fellow Hockey Fans this is a clip of the coyotes game and there is a familiar sound on here that we have waited all season to hear.... Enjoy ( Excuse the crazy move of the camera)

Ryan's Surprise Birthday Dinner

Over that past month I have been planning a Surprise Birthday Dinner for Ryan. Last night was AWESOME. I had been keeping this a secret for so long, and for those who really know me know that I can't keep a secret for anything. As you know I work at Roy's and I thought what a perfect place to have this dinner, Ryan is a huge sushi and fish lover and I knew he would enjoy it. I planned a 3-Course dinner and dessert and it was wonderful. I invited all of his close friends and family.... All day Ryan was complaining how he just wanted to stay in and watch football and baseball all night, so after hours of arguing and convincing to go out with our bestest friends we were off. We arrived at the Hotel and pulled into Valet I got out of the car and hear the valet ask Ryan where we were going, Ryan told him "Roy's and the last name of our reservation" then i hear the valet say" Wow, Travis you have alot of family down there waiting for you," as I hear him saying that I begin to cringe and just keep walking and my wonderful husband is calling my name and asking me whats going on?? I told him nothing while lieing to him. He didn't know exactly what was going on or how many people were really there, so I guess I was kinda successful with throwing him a surprise dinner.
After dinner we headed over to the Yard house with some friends and drank and had a great time. I have never planned a party for Ryan and I thought that since we are now married it is about time I embarrass him and shock him. He was indeed surprised and I am so thankful to have such a wonderful and caring husband.
Today is my sister and brother-in-law's 1 year anniversary and I want them to know that I am thinking about them.... Happy Anniversary Nikki and Brent.

Captain Ryan Travis

So over the last few blogs I have been telling you how busy Ryan has been since we tied the knot. Ryan accepted the role as Trustee for his Local Iaff. He is always giving 125% and I am so proud of him. The Fire Department he works for has been putting on Academy's over the last few months and him and his crew have been going down to the Burn Center ( A place where they put a building on fire then put it out). Ryan works with 4 other men on his crew and they are all great guys and I am so thankful to know that they have his back in case of anything, my dad always used to tell my mom and sister and myself that the men on his crew were the most important people in his life because they were responsible for him when duty calls. I worry about Ryan every morning he goes to work, but I chose that and live with it everyday, but I am truly lucky to know he is safe with the men that serve with him.
To the Left: Ryan in the front holding the fire hose putting out the fire and behind is his friend Captain Rohrman.

Above: Ryan preparing to lead his crew in to the building.

To the left: Ryan adding fuel to the Fire

Hope you enjoyed these pictures and you have some sort of an idea of what Ryan does every day. I cant say it enough, but I am so proud of my husband and I only hope our children emulate him in many ways. His birthday is in 22 days and counting and we cant wait to celebrate all of his achievements.

Our Fun Weekend

Ryan got back from Vegas last week and it has been catch up ever since. We are finally getting back to a 'Normal' routine and it is nice to have my husband home. Ryan had a great time in Vegas, learned alot and won some money gambling too. He didn't take any pictures, what guy does when they are with a bunch of men??? This past week was busy for the both of us I worked alot and he was off doing fire things but we managed to spend time together.

On Friday night we went to the Diamondbacks game, it started off good we were winning and I was so EXCITED with the thought that Ryan wasn't a CURSE to the team. We were heading into the 8th inning with the lead.................... And just like that we lost it. Ryan was getting text all night from friends who know he is bad luck telling us to LEAVE the game, but we didn't and in the end we LOST. Ryan is still bad luck for the team but we have 5 more games to go to and maybe turn it around. Here are a few pics of the game.

Here is a picture of me in front of the entrance to Chase Field. It was a bright and HOT Friday night. To the right is a picture of Ryan thinking just maybe he could reverse the curse....

This is one of my Favorite picture of the both of us....

On top of going to the Dbacks game.. Saturday was Harley's Birthday and until we have kids we are dorks and always take a picture of here in a ridiculous hat and make her take a picture. She always hates this. I went and got her some treats and spoiled her until I went to work here she is mad as hell with her hat on... Our children will hate me if I make them do this.

A Liitle bit of this......... A Little bit of that

Good Morning everyone... It has been a while since I have posted anything. I don't have any pictures but I do have new things to keep you all posted about.

Ryan leaves tomorrow morning for Las Vegas, he is going to a HUGE IAFF conference he was chosen by his local and this is great for him to be able to get his name out there. He has been working so hard for his department and I am so proud of him. He will be in Vegas til Friday. It seems like just when we start settling back into our 'Normal' routine he leaves. It's okay though. When he gets back I think we are done for a while:)

In October we are going to Las Vegas with our Friends Matt and Michelle, This will be the first time we have gone on a vacation with one another, they have a 9 month old son who will be staying with grandma for the week so we can.................... PARTY of course.

I am still working hard and also getting my name out there, with the way our economy is we have slowed down but luckily I am staying VERY busy.

We have no plans to go to Michigan this year or New York. Ryan's family will be out here for Brady's wedding (Ryan's Youngest Brother) so we are lucky to seem them quite a few times this year. I know my mom and sister are trying to come out in April.

We will continue to keep you all posted... Ryan's Birthday is a little over a month away...

Our Trip to Washington D.C and Baltimore

Well we are finally home and adjusting to normalcy again. On Sunday July 13th Ryan went to Emmitsburg, Maryland for Grant writing, he was there for a week and on Friday the 18th I flew into Baltimore to join him for a week. We went to Washington D.C and Baltimore, Maryland. We started our trip out in D.C on Friday night we cruised around just soaking in the history of our country. We woke up Saturday morning and started a new day, First we traveled around and finally decided to go to the Smithsonian Museum and see everything, we went to the air and space museum and saw the sights for the day

We had both been to D.C before when we were in Highschool but never really appreciated it as much as we did today. On sunday we went to all of the memorials and then we went to Arlington Cemetary and for that was incredable, to see all of the men and women who fought for our country lying in the most sacred place in the world. It was a hot and very humid day, we spent 2 hours around Arlington getting tours and seeing the sights. It is amazing to see what not even a state has so much history to it. Here are a few pics of our day.

We also got to see a motorcade speeding through the streets of D.C I am not sure of who it is, but I know it is someone important...

So for the rest of the trip we went to the White House both at night and during the day. We also went to the Pentagon but were unable to take pictures. We also went to Mt Vernon where President George Washington resided. The trip was awesome and here are a few pictures.

I remember seeing all of this back in Highschool but it was so neat to see it today. Below to the left is me infront of the white house and to the right is the whit house at night!!

Here is a picture of Mt Vernon, it is a beautiful place and now I understand why Washington loved it here so much....

On Monday we got to take a tour of the capitol building, if you ever get the chance to do it..... DO. we contacted Senator Kyl's office and he was kind enough to allow us to come to his office and one of his staff took us on a tour. While we were sitting in his office he came out and we talked for a bit and he then took a picture of us. It was amazing.

Ryan, Marissa and Senator Kyl..

From Washington we then went to Baltimore, MD. It was so amazing to be able to spend time with just us two, we have been so busy with our work schedules that we hardly fine time for just US. So this trip was all about us. We took a duck tour and for those of you who don't what that is... It's a Boat vehicle that can drive on land and also act as a boat and go into the water. So we did that and took in the sights of the day. To the right is a picture of me and the Duck....

These were our wheels for the day. While on the boat you are given Quackers that you MUST use, Ryan was hesitant at first but quickly became a natural, I on the other hand was born to Quack.

Here's Me Quacken
