San Diego

About a week and a half ago Ryan and I went to San Diego for a much needed vacation. We got REALLY CHEAP airfare so we decided to get the hell outta dodge. This trip was extra meaningful because the first vacation we ever took together was to San Diego about 7 years ago when we first started dating, last time we couldn’t afford that much so we stayed at a Holiday Inn and this time we stayed at a Marriott in the Marina and our room and view were amazing. We went for 3 nights and we made the most of it.

So we were leaving on Friday January 22nd at 8:30am, well Phoenix had a major storm the night before and they cancelled all flights out of Phoenix throughout Thursday. Ryan and I were so worried that we weren’t going to be able to get out. We got up on Friday and checked our Status right away……… Good News we are leaving on time. We got into San Diego and took a cab to the hotel, when we got there we checked in, it was raining so we decided to go to the outlet malls near Tijuana. They had a COACH store and my wonderful husband bought me a purse and a wallet, we then had some lunch and did a little more shopping. Later that night we got ready and went out on the town. Being the wonderful and amazing wife that I am I took Ryan to a Strip Club………… NO not that kind of Strip Club, this was the ‘Gaslamp Strip Club’ were you grill your own steaks, they make everything there but the guests must make the steaks at grills that they have throughout the restaurant. Ryan and I had never been to a place like that before so it was fun to do something we both haven’t done before.

On Saturday we went to the San Diego Zoo. I was amazed by how HUGE this place was. We had fun seeing all the animals including the new Panda and koalas. We spent pretty much the entire day there, then we headed back to the hotel for a much needed nap. We got up and went to dinner at ‘Roys’ this was actually in the hotel we stayed at, after dinner we went to Seaport Village, which is a shopping area with hometown shops right on the pier.

Sunday morning we went on a Brunch Champagne Cruise. It was an awesome time and it was so neat to see the coast that way. It was an all you can eat Brunch with so many great foods, Ryan and I paced our selves took in the sights and met some new people. The seating was communal so we sat with an older mid 50’s couple from Canada and a couple who was in the Navy and they were both deploying to Iraq and they were making the most of their time they had together. After the cruise we did some more sight seeing and walking throughout the city. That night Ryan wanted to go and get some seafood so I surrenderd and went to ‘Joes Crab Shack’ and for those of you that know me know I HATE seafood but this is what Ryan wanted so we went. It was near our hotel so we walked and watched the sun set.

Monday was our last day and our flight didn’t leave till 5:30 so we made the most of our day. We went to breakfast in the morning at a little breakfast place which was soooooo good, we then did some more shopping. We got back to the Hotel and I had noticed earlier in the trip they had bike rentals. I begged and pleaded to Ryan to let us rent them, he finally gave into me and we rode throughout the pier. These weren’t normal bikes… No they were double bikes with four wheels, Ryan was so embarrassed to be on them but I couldn’t care less, we had so much fan and I had never laughed so hard in my life. It was especially funny because 2 weeks earlier I fractured my tail bone so sitting on my but hurts and I didn’t think biking would hurt as bad as it did. Ryan found it so funny so he wouldn’t pedal making me have to pedal and nearly crying because it hurt so bad

We had a great time and we love taking little short getaways together and we know it wont always be like this, so we are enjoying all of it while we can. Hope everyone is having a good week. My sister was out here for a week and it was really nice to be able to spend with her. A lot going on the next few weeks but I will try and be a better blogger.
